Live Music, Visuals & Opening Night
Another World of Blue

Earlier this year, on March 21st 2026, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam unveiled its landmark exhibition, Yves Klein en zijn Kunstenaarsfamilie. Inspired by this citywide celebration of Yves Klein's artistic legacy, OpenArtExchange presents Another world of blue corner, a dedicated exhibition corner exploring the expressive and immersive power of the colour blue in contemporary art.

A vibrant blue installation wall will feature a curated selection of works by two African contemporary artists, inviting visitors into a sensory dialogue between colour, emotion, and imagination.

Live Performance & Opening Speech

For the opening evening, experimental pianist Wander Vanhoucke and VJ/visual artist Nadine Jongeling (VJ Era) will come together in a unique live performance. Wander merges classical instruments and orchestral soundscapes with electronic music, while Nadine reimagines archival footage into new visual narratives. Together, they weave sound and image into a poetic dialogue.

The opening of the exhibition will be officially inaugurated by S.F. Hamerslag, Schiedam's Wethouder for Culture, who will deliver a short opening speech.

Join us for a unique evening full of art, music, and visual experiences.

Saturday 23 May - 11:00 - 16:00

Creative Workshop for Children & Families

In collaboration with the volunteers at Bep & Tilly, children, together with parents and grandparents, will have the opportunity to admire the art at the OpenArtExchange, but also to get creative themselves, and even become part of the exhibition!

Participants will work with colorful recyclable materials to create their own figure. All materials will be provided, such as plastic bottles, paint, raffia, textiles, glitter, feathers, bottle caps, and more.

If you like, you may take your handmade figure home right away, but… your artwork might also be selected for the exhibition! In that case, your artwork will be displayed in the shop window of OpenArtExchange with your name alongside it. After a few days, you can come back and collect your figure.
