BLOCK THE DATE – OpenArtExchange will participate again in DAF Cologne at XPOST from 20-23 April 2023. You are most welcome to join us at booth GC15. We have a limited number of free tickets available, which can be requested per email to email@example.com and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
This time we will bring to Cologne a varied selection of recent African contemporary art and some European art in different sizes and prices to cater for a broad range of interests and budgets.
On the abstract side we have colorful pointilistic oils and acrylics with rich textures from Kingsley Ogwara (Luxembourg/Nigeria) and more graphical, outspoken architectural paintings with 3D sacred forest collages and wall sculptures of painted synthetic hairbraids with only a touch of colour from Sanda Amadou (Benin). The smaller sized semi-abstract watercolors and inks on canvas and paper by Antoine Janot with mostly some figurative elements are also rather sober and organic, with a more intimate, poetic quality.
On the figurative side, we bring more abundant colourful portraits: surrealistic paintings with a touch of Picasso and Miro from Casca (Portugal/Angola), portraits built up from black and white miniatuur foto collage within colorful settings from Jonathan Vatunga (France/DR Congo), large acrylic urban portraits in a mix of expressionism and (sur)realism from Gabriel Jideonwor (Nigeria) and tonal miniatuur mixed media portraits with nails and recycled cans on painted plywood from new talent Syl Loko (Benin).
