An interview with Marcel Kpoho

"My sculptures are a form of invocation. Just as religions externalize the concepts of God and the Devil, of monsters and demons, I reject this separation—these forces exist within us."

Our artist Marcel Kpoho shares his perspective on the deeper meanings behind his sculptures in a thought-provoking interview with Ngalula Mafwata from MAYÌ ARTS. Originally from Porto-Novo, Benin, Kpoho explores themes of duality, spirituality, and the human condition through his striking rubber sculptures. His work reflects on the blurred lines between monstrosity and humanity, drawing inspiration from Vodoun traditions and Benin’s rich cultural history.
