Opening Duo-Solo Exhibition - Re-Formation
OpenArtExchange

On Saturday August 29, we proudly celebrated the opening of our new duo-solo exhibition, Re-Formation, at OpenArtExchange. The exhibition brings together works by two contemporary Beninese artists, Sanda Amadou and Marcel Kpoho.

The afternoon featured a special artist talk with Sanda Amadou, following his residency at OpenArtExchange. Guiding visitors through the gallery, Amadou reflected on his artistic process, his understanding of the world, and the philosophies that shape his practice. The conversation offered a unique opportunity to engage with his work directly, and made the opening a moment of exchange around art, perception, and interpretation..

In Re-formation the process of transformation takes central stage. To re-form is to reshape, to make something anew, to re-use fragments of the past in order to create new beginnings. The exhibition takes this act of transformation as its point of departure, asking how materials, memories, and existing forms can be reassembled to acquire new meanings and possibilities.

Together, Amadou and Kpoho explore the idea that nothing is entirely static. Materials change, meanings shift, ecosystems regenerate, and memories are continually reinterpreted from the perspective of the present. The traces of the past do not solely determine what something can become. By reshaping what already exists, space emerges for other possibilities, and for new futures.

Re-Formation is on view until October 10, 2026, at OpenArtExchange, Hoogstraat 85, Schiedam
