ZAM Magazine x OpenArtExchange

Last Saturday, October 11th, OpenArtExchange and ZAM Magazine had the celebratory opening of our collaborative exhibition and fundraiser 'Between Here and Now'.

Julia-Beth Harris gave a poetry performance inspired by the themes of the exhibition, which explores African diaspora, identity, and the connections between past and future. Sean, director of ZAM Magazine, and Pilie, designer and artist at Huis Johannesburg, joined a panel talk on Glitching the Future and the preservation of ZAM.

The exhibition features a diverse range of works, including multimedia installations, paintings, and video pieces, all engaging with the idea of how the present is shaped by both heritage and innovation. We also had a livestream with the Fak'ugesi Festival in Johannesburg, featuring a panel that included one of our exhibiting artists, Heidi Sincuba. The livestream included a performance and a DJ demo by Pussy Party, which we followed from Schiedam. At our gallery, a DJ played vinyl records while we celebrated the opening together.

Thank you to everyone who visited and donated to ZAM. The exhibition is open until 19 October, and on that day we will celebrate the closing with a DJ playing Caribbean vinyl records.
