Schiedam 750:
House of the Future
In June, as part of Schiedam 750, we will transform our ground floor into the “Space for the Future”—a vibrant and inclusive space for all ages. Throughout the summer, we’ll explore the City of the Future through art, music, debates, workshops, and more: a city that is sustainable, diverse, and socially connected. OpenArtExchange contributes with an inspiring renovation plan for Hoogstraat 85 (on view from May 17 via our video installation) and a special summer program that also offers a free platform for contributions from others.

About us
OpenArtExchange, founded in 2018, is a young and fast-growing international art gallery with a 600 m2 art space in the museum district of Schiedam (Rotterdam region). We aim to improve the diversity in the art world and offer commercial access to the international art market to non-Western contemporary artists. Over the past years, OpenArtExchange has grown into an African contemporary art specialist.
Our contemporary art collection consists of paintings, drawings, watercolors, collages, textile and mixed media works, sculptures and some installations and photography in a wide variety of styles and techniques. They are largely created by (inter)nationally recognized artists (emerging or mid term career) from West-African countries (mainly Benin/Nigeria, being extended to Togo, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Mali) and from the Horn of Africa (Angola/Congo).
Offline we mainly sell to collectors in Europe through our gallery in Schiedam, as well as through (inter)national art fairs and art festivals. We reach a global audience online through our website, social media and Artsy.
