About the artist
Casca, born in 1976 into an artist family in Lisbon with Angolan heritage, is a self-taught artist and a distinctive figure in contemporary Angolan art. His work spans paintings, drawings, collages, and sculptures, deeply rooted in the masks, symbolism, and ancient narratives of indigenous Angolan cultures, particularly the Chokwe people from North Angola, where he lived and studied extensively.
Casca's art merges these indigenous influences with a contemporary aesthetic, blending sculptures, paintings, collage, and drawings. His works feature distorted abstract faces adorned with indigenous patterns, masks, and symbolism, infused with elements of comic, street art, and pop art styles.
Since 2016, Casca has exhibited internationally in Angola, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, showcasing his unique fusion of cultural heritage and modern artistic expression.
