We warmly invite you to join us for the opening of our newest group exhibition, Sacred on Saturday, 27 June 2026 at 15h00 at OpenArtExchange, Hoogstraat 85, Schiedam. The exhibition will be on view until August 16th, 2026.
We will have the chance to have the presence of the artist, Sebastien Boko, who will present share insights into his work and artistic practice. The opening will also feature a live performance by schiedam guitarist, Vincent Janse, who will perform original compositions and reimagined covers inspired by the themes of the exhibition. Janse brings many years of international stage experience, including performances with his band Vinnie's Vice. His single, First Flood, recorded in Schiedam, will be also available for sale in the gallery.
Sacred presents a selection of new works by established and emerging contemporary African artists. The exhibition explores what remains meaningful and sacred in a world shaped by uncertainty, rapid change, and growing social and ecological instability. Through distinct visual languages and a variety of media, ranging from collage and textile works to semi-abstract sculptures, each artists invite viewers to consider how spiritual, cultural, and emotional values continue to endure and evolve in contemporary life.
