On Saturday November 8, we proudly celebrated the opening of our new group exhibition, House of the Future III - Fertile Grounds, at OpenArtExchange. The exhibition brings together works of six contemporary artists: Sanda Amadou, Sapate Doudou, Yao Metsoko, Anna Nunes van den Hoven, Tchif Tchiakpe and Freddy Tsimba.
The afternoon unfolded as a vibrant meeting of art, sound and performance. Musican Wander Vanhoucke and VJ/visual artist Nadine Jongeling (VJ Era) created a captivating dialogue between music and image. Wander premiered his own compositions, combining piano and electronic soundscapes, while Nadine responded with a mesmerising live visual performance, reimagining archival footage and found footage interwoven with elements from the exhibition itself.
A special higlight was the unveiling of Yao Metsoko's monumental installation, La Pyramide de la Vie (Pyramid of Life). Composed of a wooden pyramid, a jar (the "matrice"), and 74 hand-crafted bottles, the work is imbued with deep symbolism. It reflects the structures and elements that form and sustain life, its origins, trials and possibilities, echoing the exhibition's central themes of growth, continuity and transformation.
House of the Future III – Fertile Grounds invites visitors to explore the concepts of roots and heritage, asking how we can carry the past into the future in ways that are both positive and fertile. What can we learn from our history? And how can we reinvent ourselves through it?
The exhibition is on view until December 20, 2025.
