Elise Tokoudagba, peintre et sculptrice autodidacte, a hérité d’un riche patrimoine artistique transmis par ses parents, profondément ancré dans les traditions spirituelles du Dahomey et de la culture vaudou. À travers des sculptures vibrantes réalisées en argile rouge locale, elle donne vie au symbolisme complexe des divinités traditionnelles vaudou, assurant leur présence durable dans l’art contemporain et la pratique spirituelle.

Elise Tokoudagba est une peintre et sculptrice autodidacte, qui a grandi en travaillant dès son plus jeune âge dans l’atelier de son défunt père, peintre et chercheur internationalement reconnu pour ses travaux sur les images vaudoues, et de sa mère, céramiste. Elle a ainsi grandi au cœur des anciens royaumes du Dahomey et de la religion vaudou. Solidement ancrée dans la communauté artistique locale et nourrie par ce riche héritage de traditions spirituelles, elle poursuit la lignée transmise par ses parents à travers son propre style contemporain. Parmi ses réalisations, on compte des sculptures colorées, de grands et petits formats, réalisées en argile rouge locale et peintes à la peinture automobile à l’huile.
Ses céramiques colorées représentent certaines des nombreuses divinités et esprits de la religion vaudou traditionnelle. Chacune soigneusement élaborée avec les attributs, symboles et couleurs appropriés, transmet ainsi le patrimoine des traditions spirituelles aux générations à venir.
