Opening Between Here and Now

Exhibition by ZAM Magazine x OpenArtExchange

Join us for the opening of the exhibition Between Here and Now on 11 October, 14:00h

ZAM Magazine and OpenArtExchange warmly invite you to the opening of the exhibition Between Here and Now.

Between Here and Now is a multidisciplinary group exhibition featuring African artists from within and beyond the African diaspora. The 'now’ concerns the current experience of migration and connection but also examines how history and the future resonate in the present. Themes such as identity, migration, community, and imagination of the future are explored in a wide variety of media. Visitors are invited to become part of this vibrant body of work and experience the rich diversity of these stories.

At the festive opening on 11 October, we will present the ‘Glitching the Future’ symposium and the ‘DJ Glitching’ demo live from the Fak’ugesi Digital Innovation Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This livestreamed symposium, moderated by Heidi Thembeka Sincuba, with a double panel both in the gallery and in Johannesburg, uses sonic elements as a common thread for conversation, practice, and performance. Music, sound, and digital culture disrupt dominant narratives and spark collective transformation. Featuring a Live DJ Demo by Pussy Party in Johannesburg!

Opening program – Saturday 11 October 2025 at OpenArtExchange:

  • 14:00 doors open
  • 14:30 - 16:00 Glitching the Future symposium (livestream from 14:30)
