Jacques Tange werd geboren in Vlissingen in 1960. Hij bracht het grootste deel van zijn kindertijd door met tekenen, schilderen, werken aan diepte, precisie en perspectief. Vanaf zijn veertiende koesterde hij de droom om professioneel kunstenaar te worden.

Geboren in Vlissingen, Nederland, in 1960, wist Jacques Tange van jongs af aan dat hij professioneel kunstenaar wilde worden. Hij werd opgeleid aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam.
Inspired by the illuminated handwritings of the middle ages, he uses his own imagination and humour in present-day themes. The ornamentation and his typical use of bright colours are applied with the use of archetypes and methaphors. Tange is a creator of a world which is as recognisable as it is strange. What is shown to us is a closed world.
The use of intimate, soft light creates a characteristic atmosphere. His works show a well balanced composition which is made both by object and colours. Recognisable themes regulary return in his artistic work about the relationship between man and woman, the urban jungle and the isolation of the human being.
Tange has been exhibited in many countries and features in many collections and publications internationally. He became national artist of the year in 2005.

Geïnspireerd door de verlichte handschriften van de middeleeuwen, gebruikt hij zijn eigen verbeelding en humor in hedendaagse thema's. De ornamentatie en zijn typische gebruik van felle kleuren worden toegepast met behulp van archetypen en metaforen. Tange is een schepper van een wereld die even herkenbaar als vreemd is. Wat ons getoond wordt, is een gesloten wereld.
Het gebruik van intiem, zacht licht creëert een kenmerkende sfeer. Zijn werken tonen een goed uitgebalanceerde compositie die zowel door objecten als kleuren wordt gevormd. Herkenbare thema's komen regelmatig terug in zijn artistieke werk over de relatie tussen man en vrouw, de stedelijke jungle en de isolatie van de mens.
Tange is in veel landen tentoongesteld en maakt deel uit van vele collecties en publicaties internationaal. Hij werd nationale kunstenaar van het jaar in 2005.
