Antoine Janot (1988) werkt in een breed scala aan media. Hij is een schilder, fotograaf, regisseur van korte films en schrijver. Tussen illusie en droom portretteert Antoine Janot personages die verloren zijn in een continue stroom van werkelijkheid en verbeelding.
Mijn plicht als kunstenaar is om na te denken over enkele kwesties die verband houden met de samenleving. De kunstenaar is naar mijn mening een spiegel van de samenleving. Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat de kunstenaar een belangrijke rol kan spelen bij het bieden van oplossingen voor onze problemen."
Portret
Antoine Janot (1988) is a film director, photographer, poet and painter, holding a bachelor of Science. He was initially educated as an audiovisual technician at EICAR, followed by a masters degree in Cinema from the University La Sorbonne in Paris. He has co-produced an independent documentary and directed several experimental short films, which were well recognized, as well as his photography, for which he was awarded several times. In addition he published several poetry books and essays and is increasingly recognised for his paintings.
Early on Janot started to work on paper and canvas with watercolors, ink, and acrylics to find another outlet to express his poetic world. His semi-abstract works often seem hallucinating expressions somewhere between illusion and dream with figurative hints.
They reflect on our post-modern society where online perceptions tend to take over physical reality. Janot’s characters seem lost in this mixed flow of reality and imagination.
Janot has exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions in Paris, where he lives, and beyond, such as wider France, Korea, Guatemala, Netherlands and Germany.
Antoine Janot (1988) is een filmregisseur, fotograaf, dichter en schilder, met een bachelor in de wetenschappen. Hij is aanvankelijk opgeleid als audiovisueel technicus aan EICAR, gevolgd door een masterdiploma in Cinema aan de Universiteit La Sorbonne in Parijs. Hij heeft een onafhankelijke documentaire co-geproduceerd en verschillende experimentele korte films geregisseerd, die goed werden erkend, evenals zijn fotografie, waarvoor hij meerdere keren is onderscheiden. Daarnaast heeft hij verschillende poëzieboeken en essays gepubliceerd en wordt hij steeds meer erkend voor zijn schilderijen.
Vroeg begon Janot te werken op papier en canvas met aquarellen, inkt en acrylverf om een andere uitlaatklep te vinden om zijn poëtische wereld uit te drukken. Zijn semi-abstracte werken lijken vaak hallucinogene uitdrukkingen te zijn ergens tussen illusie en droom met figuratieve hints.
Ze reflecteren op onze postmoderne samenleving waar online percepties de fysieke realiteit lijken over te nemen. Janot's personages lijken verloren in deze gemengde stroom van realiteit en verbeelding.
Janot heeft in verschillende solo- en groepstentoonstellingen in Parijs, waar hij woont, en daarbuiten geëxposeerd, zoals in het bredere Frankrijk, Korea, Guatemala, Nederland en Duitsland.
