Nancy Hoogstad creates her works with, among other things, people, nature and her own life experience as a starting point. She plays with her materials. Narrative elements can often be recognized, a number of themes are life, death, sexuality, relationships and role patterns, dreams and desires.

Nancy Hoogstad (1974) makes collages and marble sculptures.
Hoogstad’s collage works are about ourselves and our relationship to others. About the happiness and pleasure we get out of relationships (or out of life) but also related to unhappiness and sadness. How in the end everything is inextricably linked, whether you like it or not. The work is about the past, present and future.
When making collages and sculptures, she often uses recurring themes. One is the beauty, the imposed beauty, the mask behind which you have to hide according to the standards of this society.
Solidity, hard work, role determination of men and women, from generation to generation are also a number of themes that emerge in her work. The relationship between the must, the obligation and the want, the dreams. Lust and desire.
