Collagist and sculptor | The Netherlands
Nancy Hoogstad (1974) is an artist and curator based in the Rotterdam region, who focuses on collages and marble sculptures. Her works deal with human relations, whether between people, or between people and their environment. She often personalizes her observations by taking her own life experiences as a starting point.

Nancy Hoogstad (1974) makes collages and marble sculptures.
Recurring themes are her fascination with the connectivity between all sorts of life forms, whether it is a constructive , supportive, or loving relationship or a damaging or painful one. She fully accepts them all without bitterness or regrets, acknowledging the necessity of all to mold each life form to its true identity. Identities that are all connected and valuable in the bigger picture.
With her sewing machine she creates the fragile, yet undeniably clear connections between images that makes up the eclectic experiences that life serves us. Associative, strong images full of stories, whether we like them or not. Creating dreamlike, semi-abstract identities, which leave the viewer somewhere between recognition and estrangement, contemplating their meaning.
