“My paintings are made up of various components that differ greatly from one another. Through each other and next to each other I want to connect these opposites without breaking up the overall picture, but also without eliminating the differences. This bringing together of the contrasts is visible in my way of painting; bold next to skimpy, exuberant as opposed to modest. Also in the performance there is the need to connect; buttons, metal pipes and scraps cling together. In addition, or rather behind it, the background sometimes emphatically predominates. What happens if the background and foreground do not behave as such and change roles? What if a shadow part is more concrete than the matter of which it is the shadow?

I exaggerate the spaciousness that I know but do not perceive; bent metal, crumpled paper, or a quilted pillow. Of course it is not about the just real, not about the unreal, but about the painting as independence. And that is real; painted with my brain, my imagination and the way I look at the world ”
