Exhibition #InnerCities

On 6 September 2018 the international art center OpenArtExchange in Hoogstraat 85 opened the exhibition #InnerCities with paintings, drawings and sculptures by 3 Schiedam and 3 international artists who also participated in OpenExpo in the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam from 6-9 September.

#InnerCities reflected on contemporary life in inner cities from various worlds. How individuals through their daily choices, actions and reactions weave the patterns in their physical and social environment, for better or for worse. This yields an explosion of color versus naked sobriety, silent cityscapes versus chaos and endless construction sites, organic harmony arises from the masses versus the struggle of the individual to stay in that mass, the power of human involvement versus alienation and singularity .

Participating artists were:

  • Bouvy Enkobo (DR Congo),
  • Fenneke Hordijk (Vlaardingen / Rotterdam),
  • Frans de Winter (Schiedam / Vlaardingen),
  • Jeffrey Burger (Schiedam),
  • Kingsley Ogwara (Nigeria / Luxembourg)
  • Mumpasi Meso (Angola / Brazil).
