ART LAREN – 14 – 15 – 16 June 2019

Art Laren has conquered a unique place in the art world. Last year the galleries stood in line to be allowed to exhibit, but the capacity at the historic Brink van Laren is limited. The white pavilions under the trees offer a good entourage for the contemporary art that is presented at this art fair.

Art Laren is the end of the Kunstmaand Laren with numerous visual arts events, including the Galerieroute and the exhibitions in Singer Laren with the redesigned garden, designed by Piet Oudolf. Art Laren is organized by the Kiwanis Club Laren, partly to raise funds for children’s projects around the world.

You are very welcome at our stand 49/50 during ART Laren or in our art center in Schiedam. If desired, you can also make an appointment for personal viewing or advice at our office in Bikbergen-Huizen or at your home by sending an email to info@openartexchange.com.

At ART Laren OpenArtExchange will show artworks from the following artists:

  • Mumpasi Meso, (1984, Angola / Brazil), paintings & collages
  • Kingsley Ogwara (1975, Nigeria / Luxembourg): paintings
  • Bouvy Enkobo (1981, DR Congo): paintings
  • Jeffrey Burger (1971, the Netherlands): painted iron mesh works
  • Astrid Meijer (1959, the Netherlands): installations
  • Cristiano Mangovo (1982, Angola / Portugal): paintings and collages

OpenArtExchange is an independent international art center that wants to stimulate and connect promising contemporary visual artists from non-Western countries (especially Africa, South America and Asia) with the Western art world. We do this through our online platform, our exchange programs, exhibitions and other activities in our local center in the museum district in Schiedam (Rotterdam region), our participation in European art fairs and at art festivals. We also work on the institutional exposure of our artists and their presence in the (inter) national and local cultural press.

In our residences we have already recognized, emerging artists from different cultural backgrounds collaborate with experienced local artists on specific themes. For art lovers and collectors, this results in high-quality exhibitions with an average of around 30 versatile and often contrasting works of art. These works of art vary from drawings, paintings, collages and sculptures to photography and digital art or installations and performances. Other art events often take place around these exhibitions, such as participation in, modern dance (ART Rotterdam week), or other performances. We organize 4 residences and 6 exhibitions per year. In addition, we participate in 6-8 art fairs a year, mainly in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Germany. This year and next year we are continuing to work on a special international Street Art route project, for which we recently won one of the three nominations for the biennial Waterweg Cultuurprijs (Rotterdam region).
